The Flamenco Guitar Courses have an objective, that of training accompaniment guitarists for singing and for dance. Classes are taught in homogeneous groups which allow students to learn technique, as well as the art of the accompaniment Flamenco guitar. The Guitar department includes an extraordinary group of outstanding teachers, such as Paco Cortés, Niño de Pura, Eduardo Rebollar, Pedro Sierra, Pedro Sánchez and Pedro Barragán amongst other guitarists who exemplify all classical and contemporary styles.

The Study Programme includes three courses –1st (Basic), 2nd (Intermediate) and 3rd (Advanced)- and with every academic year levels and objectives might vary. As students pass every course, they will receive a certificate confirming their grades, contact hours and level of artistic interpretation.

These are our Guitar levels:

1st ANNUAL FLAMENCO GUITAR COURSE (Basic Level)

The aim of the First Annual Flamenco Guitar course (Basic Level) is to introduce students to the fundamentals of accompanying Flamenco singing and dance, knowledge of Flamenco guitar technique and the different rhythmic patterns (“compas”). Therefore, students will study the rhythmic styles and simple "falsetas" (solo variations for the guitar), as well as the study of the Flamenco songs closer to the Andalusian folklore.

The academic program includes seven subjects (Theory and Practice), delivered in FIVE DAILY BLOCKS (with the exception of Fridays which consist of 4 sessions). There are three core subjects in the 1st Annual Dance Course (shared by all specializations) and one subject in the program is Elective.

Teachers:

Throughout the annual course, students in the 1st Guitar Course will take classes with Eduardo Rebollar, Paco Cortés (Term III), Pedro Sánchez, Pedro Barragán and Pepa Sánchez.

The teaching staff of the Fundación de Arte Flamenco Cristina Heeren is subject to changes and updates, as required by professional commitments and academic needs.

Level 1 Flamenco Guitar:

Beginners can enroll in the 1st Annual Guitar Course.  Students who do not know  Flamenco "compás" (rhythmic structure) and also those  who have never accompanied live singing and dance before, will also enroll in the First Guitar Course. On the other hand, in order to join the course, it is absolutely essential to play other kinds of music with the guitar (classical, jazz, rock, popular, ...) since the task of the course is to teach Flamenco guitar and not to teach how to play the instrument.

Students wishing to register for the First Annual Guitar Course should be able to perform the following exercises:

-Simple Strumming ("Rasgueado").

-"Arpeggio".

-Basic chords.

-Previous musical experience in Flamenco or any other musical genre.
