PRESENTATION

Laura Vital, inspite of her youth, is one of the sweetest and moving voices of Flamenco. This vivacious and multifaceted artist presents her new album, “Tejiendo Lunas” (or “Weaving Moons”) a work in which she bares her soul to tell her truth, her love for flamenco music and for the different music styles that combine to create this particular microcosm. She is creating pathways to and forming sisterhoods with neighboring cultures.

“Tejiendo Lunas” emerges from a conceptual flamenco base that unearths, with it meticulousstyle that flirts with spirituality, the unique and symbolic eclecticism of Flamenco as a crucible of distant music, drawn together by shared forms of expression. It builds bridges that unite Flamenco with Arabic, Turkish, Egyptian, Greek and Romanian rhythms and intends to revive forgotten songs such as zarabandas, rosas and trillas. Weaving Moons emerges from the willingness to experiment with sound, with intentional instrumental intersections of percussion, guitar and violins with raw voice buoyed by poetic and evocative lyrics. One part of the flamenco soul is built uponsongs that are primitively monotonous, Phoenician, Greek, Romanian, Arabic, Christian and converse – bricks of a musical wall which Andalucians regard as their parapet: El Quejío.

Today Flamenco has its own identity and follows its own path. Laura Vital ensures that said path converges with “Tejiendo Lunas”, in a performance that, through its music, delivers an emotional exchange of friendship and solidarity among cultures, places and races. Morrocan moasharas, Egyptian songs, Turkish rhythms and Greek influences unite in this unforgettable performance that positionsthis engaging singer among a group of exceptional musicians such as Eduardo Rebollar, Sócrates Mastrodimos, Jamal Ouassini and David Chupete. It surprises, with the honesty of a restless public along with brave musical messages of peace and tolerance, and transcends distinct musical boundaries.
