JOSÉ LUIS POSTIGO (Sevilla, 1950)
José Luis was the winner of the "Manuel de Huelva" prize in
the National Contest in Cordoba, and National Guitar Prize
in Jerez de la Frontera (1983). Due to his versality José
Luis Postigo is extremely popular with professional artists
who depend on his brilliant accompaniment for their singing
and dancing. He has toured throughout four continents with
various companies, has participated in numerous recordings,
and also has frequently performed as a soloist. José Luis
Postigo heads the Guitar Department of the Flamenco Art School
of the Cristina Heeren Foundation.
MANOLO
FRANCO (Sevilla, 1960).
He was a disciple of Manolo Barón and Antonio Osuna.
After having been perfecting the accompaniment of dance in
the school of Matilde Coral he won, as a soloist, the contest
of Radio Sevilla (1979) and the prestigious "Giraldillo de
la guitarra" (1984). He has accompanied the most important
singers and dancers and he has performed in the most various
countries, appearing in shows like El Flamenco es Vida y Estrellas
de la Bienal. To his great qualities we must add his creative
side shown in his C.D. Aljibe (1984) and in numerous compositions.
For his quality in the accompaniment, for his accomplished
technique and for his crystalline toque, Manolo Franco is
one of the most complete guitarists of the history of flamenco.
DANIEL
NAVARRO "NIÑO DE PURA" (Sevilla, 1966).
His first teachers were Manuel Lozano and Manolo Carmona and
at the age of 12 he became a disciple of Manolo Sanlúcar,
who polished his technique and channeled his talent. He won
the Prize of the Guitar of the Bienal of Arte Flamenco in
Seville (1984), the Prize of the Flamencología Chair of Jerez
de la Frontera (1984), "Bordón Minero" of the Cante de las
Minas National Contest in La Unión (Murcia) and the "Giraldillo
de la Guitarra" (1990). He has accompanied many important
flamenco singers and he is the author of the albums Capricho
de Bohemias (1986), Caliente (1992), Maquida (1996) and Pozo
y Caudal (2002). As a musician and accompaniment guitarist,
"Niño de Pura" is a brilliant and unrepeatable artist.
MIGUEL ANGEL
CORTES (Granada, 1972)
Debuted
as a guitar player at eight years old in La Zambra in Granada.
In 1993 he won second place in the Paco de Lucia guitar contest
and since then has become one of the most renowned guitarist
by dancers and singers like Carmen Linares, Esperanza Fernandez,
Enrique Morente, Javier Baron and Antonio Canales among others.
In his discography there are collaborations with Enrique Morente's
"Omega" and "Patriarca" albums in 1998.
He is a professor of guitar accompaniment with singing and
also solo guitar in the school of art at The Cristina Heeren
Flamenco Foundation.
EDUARDO REBOLLAR (Sevilla, 1966)
Eduardo started off accompaning dancing in Matilde's Coral
school, and has been guitarrist with the company "La Cuadra"
of Salvador Tavora (1987-1992). He won a prize in accompaniment
of singing in Ubrique (1989) and was a finalist in the Giraldillo
(1990). He has tought flamenco guitar in the Conservatoire
of Huelva (1995-1998), where he has developed an original
and effective way of teaching. He teaches guitar and accompaniment
in the Flamenco Art School of the Cristina Heeren Foundation.
TINO
VAN DER SMAN (La Haya, 1974)
Is licensed in Flamenco Guitar by the Rotterdam Conservatory
where he was a student of Paco Pena. He has been a student
of Manolo Sanlucar and Gerardo Nunez. In The Cristina Heeren
Flamenco Foundation he studied under Manolo Franco, Jose Luis
Postigo, Eduardo Rebollar and Miguel Angel Cortez. He has
been a guitar accompanist for the Israel Galvan Company and
a finalist of the National Contest of Flamenco in Cordoba
(2001). He is a technique professor of Flamenco Guitar in
The Cristina Heeren Flamenco Foundation.
RAUL
CANTIZANO (Sevilla, 1973).
Raúl Cantizano was born in Seville in 1973. As a little
boy he developed a passion for the guitar, which he studied
on his own by listening to old masters and by attending gatherings
at the peñas. Then, having obtained a degree in Fine
Arts in 2000, he received a grant from the wine producer Fino
Cobos. This allowed him to take the Specialization course
at the Cristina Heeren Foundation. There he studied with such
maestros as Manolo Franco, Niño de pura, Miguel Angel
Cortés, José Luis Postígo, Eduardo Rebollar,
etc.... At present, he combines his job as assistant teacher
at the Foundation with regular performances at the tablao
La Casa de la Memoria Al-andalus and at the theatre Sol Café
Cantante. Raul has participated in the European Youth Festival
of Ankara (Turkey), as well as in the festivals of Grenoble
(Les Voix du Cante Flamenco) and Lille, in France. He has
also performed in the U.S., in England, and in Germany. Recently
he played the guitar in the context of a series of recitals
organized by the provincial government and by the City Hall
of Seville.
He has directed a flamenco show called "Sal Sobrino",
which he performed with enormous success in Portugal and in
Seville.
Raul is a disciplined musician who, over the years, has acquired
a sound technique which he applies successfully both to solo
performance as well as to singing and dance accompaniment.
He is an imaginative musician, the extent of his repertoire
is impressive.
